Every day until 18:00 Bangla Road almost does not differ from other streets. But when the traffic is closed, this place becomes a center of entertainment and nightlife.
Bangla Road and the surrounding area occupied by foreigners, traders, barkers, artists, and bar girls. Here you can drink and listen to live music in the bar, eat Thai food in a local eatery or have a snack at McDonald’s, see the speeches of conjurers and mimes, take pictures with a transvestite or exotic reptile, and bargain with a street vendor for a souvenir of shells.
And in Songkran, Thai New Year, the street turns into the epicenter of water battles in Phuket. Tourists, armed with pistols and submachine-guns with water, shell each other with childish fervor.
From 6 pm on the whole street full of relaxing and cheering people. Everywhere music thunders and there is everything that is needed for vacationers. On both sides, there are numerous entertainment and drinking establishments – souvenir shops, shops, shopping centers, restaurants, bars, cafes, karaoke, discos, nightclubs with go-go bars and travesty shows.
From one end to the street is sandy beach Patong Beach. Its length is 4 km. There is where to take a walk, sunbathe, book a massage, go in for sports and just relax, having spent an excellent evening with friends.
Many hangouts on Bangla Road are held in alleys, each of which stands out for something unusual. On Soi Easy there is the famous Hollywood disco. And there are many go-go bars on Soi Sea Dragon.
There are bars with live music, there are sports. Especially popular are U2 Bar, Happy Night, Viking Restaurant & Bar. Among clubs, success is enjoyed by Moulin Rouge Phuket, Seduction Nightclub Phuket, The Kids Club Phuket.
What to Fear
It is not recommended to buy expensive goods from hands – you can get a fake. In addition, without a check, expensive or made from rare materials, souvenirs are usually confiscated by Thai customs.
The rest is quite safe here – noisy, fun, cheerful and interesting.
